Deputy Commissioner Of Shimla Initiates Child Nutrition Campaign

Shimla’s Deputy Commissioner, Aditya Negi, chaired a meeting of the District-Level Monitoring and Review Committee at the Savings Building today. The discussion centered around providing nutritious meals to children up to the age of 6 under the Nourishment Campaign in Anganwadi centers. Detailed deliberations were held to effectively implement this plan at the grassroots level, ensuring comprehensive guidance.

Negi emphasized the holistic development of children, focusing on their physical and mental well-being. He disclosed that 33,244 children in 2,154 Anganwadi centers across the district are benefitting from nutritious meals, and 8,272 pregnant women are also receiving support. He further stated that centers have been established for underprivileged and economically disadvantaged groups, providing education to 8,233 children aged 3 to 6 years. Addressing developmental aspects like infrastructure enhancement, health education, immunization, and malnutrition, Negi engaged directly with officials from the Child Development Project, assuring them of full support to ensure the success of these initiatives.

Negi also demanded a comprehensive report on the state of clean drinking water and sanitation facilities in Anganwadi centers, promising financial support to fulfill these needs. The meeting was presided over by Program Officer Mamta Paul Sharma, who shed light on the Unified Child Development Plan’s activities. The session saw the participation of officials and employees from various departments.
