Conducting Examinations for Post Codes through H.P. Public Service Commission:
During the Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, it was decided to conduct examinations for certain Post Codes through the H.P. Public Service Commission. This decision aims to address the non-conduct of examinations by the erstwhile Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur.
Expansion of Kangra Airport:
The Cabinet gave its approval to proceed with the land acquisition process for the expansion of Kangra Airport. The plan includes extending the runway length to 3010 meters, making it suitable for the operation of A-320 Type aircraft. This expansion is a significant step towards developing Kangra as the ‘Tourism Capital’ of the State.
Mukhya Mantri Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana 2023: Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet
Guidelines for the Mukhya Mantri Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana 2023 were also approved by the Cabinet. Under this scheme, eligible economically disadvantaged students will be provided loans of up to Rs. 20 lakhs at a nominal interest rate of one percent. The loans will support their pursuit of engineering, medical, management, paramedical, pharmacy, nursing, ITI, polytechnic, and Ph.D. courses in recognized Universities and Educational Institutions.
Cabinet Sub Committee for SMCs and Computer Teachers:
To address issues pertaining to School Management Committees (SMCs) and Computer Teachers, the Cabinet formed a Sub Committee. The committee will be led by Education Minister Rohit Thakur and comprise Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh.
Regulation of Unauthorised Construction Activities along Highways:
In an effort to control unplanned and unregulated construction activities along key highways, the Cabinet decided to establish a Four Lane Planning Area. This planning area will encompass a 100-meter stretch on either side of the Four Lane, covering highways such as Parwanoo-Shimla Highway NH-5, Shimla-Matour NH, Pathankot-Mandi NH, and Kiratpur-Manali Highway NH-3. Additionally, future Four Lane Highways will also fall under the purview of this regulation.
Opening of Government Degree College, Tauni Devi: Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet
The Cabinet approved the establishment of a Government Degree College in Tauni Devi, district Hamirpur. This step aims to expand educational opportunities and access to higher education in the region.
Upgradation of Police Chowki Bir to Police Station:
Police Chowki Bir in district Kangra will be upgraded to a Police Station. In addition, the Cabinet sanctioned the creation and filling up of 10 posts across various categories to strengthen the police force.
Land Lease for Himachal Pradesh Bus Stand Management and Development Authority:
The Cabinet granted a land lease to the Himachal Pradesh Bus Stand Management and Development Authority. The lease will enable the construction of workshops in Jogindernagar, district Mandi, and Dharamshala, district Kangra, for a duration of 40 years at a rate of Rs. 5 per square metre.
Renaming the Department of Information Technology:
The Department of Information Technology will be renamed as the Department of Digital Technologies and Governance. This renaming aims to reflect the department’s expanded focus and its role in driving digital transformation and effective governance.
