Shimla’s Deputy Commissioner, Aditya Negi, convened a meeting at the Mini Secretariat in Rampur Bushahr’s Municipal Hall today, to discuss preparations for the upcoming International Lavi Mela scheduled to be held from November 11th to 14th, 2023.

In his address, he highlighted that the International Lavi Mela, to be organized at PG College Ground in Rampur, along with a Cultural Evening at Padam Rajkiya Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Ramapur, promises to be a grand celebration.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the Lavi Mela, celebrated annually, will be even more vibrant this year. He shared that on November 11th, the Honorable Governor, Shiv Pratap Shukla, will inaugurate the festival, while on November 14th, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will participate in the closing ceremony.

Negi underscored the importance of transparency in stall allocation to address issues related to subletting and to ensure that rural people have access to goods at reasonable prices during the fair. He also announced that various government departments will organize exhibitions during the Lavi Mela to inform the public about the state government’s welfare policies, providing people with insights into inclusive programs and their benefits.

During the meeting, Negi ordered the installation of CCTV cameras at sensitive locations to keep a vigilant eye on anti-social elements during the fair. Additionally, he instructed the Fire Department in Rampur to ensure that all fire hydrants are operational to tackle any emergency effectively. Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner expressed his commitment to improve the upcoming horse show by increasing the prize money to Rs. 10,000.

The meeting was attended by Chandraprabha Negi, Chairman of the Shimla District Council, Trilok Baluni, member of the District Council, Ashwini Negi, Vice-Chairman of the Ramapur Municipal Council, as well as other council members, government officials, and party officials.

The International Lavi Mela promises to be a grand celebration of culture and commerce, with a focus on promoting inclusivity and welfare policies. The installation of CCTV cameras and the enhancement of fire hydrant systems aim to ensure the safety and security of all attendees during the festival.
