The Diocese of Amritsar (DOA), Church of North India (CNI) paid tribute to Indian Christian ‘Sadhu’ and Missionary Sadhu Sundar Singh on his 135th birth anniversary in the school hall of St. Thomas’ School, Shimla. Today on 7th September, It was presided over by Bishop Dr. PK Samantaroy of Diocese of Amritsar. Sadhu Sundar Singh Pilgrimage was organized for the first time with the support of Sadhu Sundar Singh Global Forum and the people associated with it.
Bishop PK Samantaroy of Diocese of Amritsar, members of Sadhu Sundar Singh Global Forum and devotees associated with Diocese of Amritsar participated in it. On the 135th birth anniversary of Sadhu Sundar Singh, Bishop Dr.PK Samantaroy said that Sadhu Sundar Singh was baptized in this St. Thomas’ Church and whenever he comes here, he feels as if that saint is among us and his holiness is spread all around.
He also said that the six-day pilgrimage, which began on September 3 on the birth anniversary of Sadhu Sunder Singh, will cover all the sites associated with his life, including his village Rampur in Ludhiana; Subathu in Himachal where his house is located; and his house in Shimla and the St Thomas’ Church, now converted into a school, where he was baptized.
The pilgrimage will then conclude on September 7, 8 at Kotgarh, where the cave of Sadhu Sunder Singh is located. Members of the Diocese of Amritsar and principals of local schools of the diocese were also present on the occasion of this anniversary.
