Day two of the Inter School Athletic Meet by YES, being held at St Edwards School Shimla, saw some great finishes as well as few heart breaks. There were loud cheers from different corners as each school rooted for his / her peer to finish on the podium. With eight schools participating, day two began at 1 pm as students were excited and energized to participate in the next set of events. Hon’ble Judge Supreme Court of India and former Chief Justice High Court of Himachal Pradesh, Kurian Joseph presided over the function as the chief guest accompanied by St Edwards School Principal Father Anil Sequria. Justice Kurian Joseph strongly believes that people have high expectations from judiciary and it should play a pro-active role to meet their aspirations.
With great enthusiasm all the participants, both girls and boys, lined up for the 400 meter races to begin with, after which the relay races and triple jump were conducted. The spirit of sportsmanship and fair play was seen throughout the competition.
The chief guest presented medals to winners for day one and day two amidst loud cheers and clapping. Justice Kurian said, “It was a pleasure see such high spirited performances by the students and I wish to congratulate all the participants as it is not just about winning or losing, it is about being part of the event. It is also important to follow rules and instructions set for play as if you follow them today you shall follow them throughout your life and become great citizens”.
