In a recent development, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla assessed the extensive damage caused by significant landslides near Chakki Mod on National Highway 05 in Solan District. The Governor provided necessary directives to the district administration and the National Highway Authority to take essential steps to address the situation.
Governor Shukla emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth traffic flow on the national highway and ensuring timely transportation of goods, particularly seasonal produce like apples. He stressed the need for alternate arrangements if required, while highlighting the significance of National Highway 05 in the state for both supply and tourism.
Given the impact of natural disasters, Governor Shukla acknowledged the considerable damage caused in various parts of the state due to heavy rainfall, landslides, and cloud bursts. He is personally inspecting affected areas to assess the extent of the damage.
Solan’s Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma revealed that the district has incurred around 526 million rupees in losses due to heavy rainfall. The district administration is actively providing assistance to affected individuals as per the state government’s directives, while implementing measures to restore normalcy.
A.K. Dahia, the Project Director of the National Highway Authority, reported on the damage caused by the heavy rainfall on National Highway 05 near Chakki Mod. He estimated that it would take 30 to 45 days to fully restore the highway to its original condition. Dahia also outlined the ongoing and future measures aimed at maintaining the highway’s functionality and preventing future damage.
High-ranking officials including Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, district administration representatives, and National Highway Authority officials were present during this assessment.
