Capacity Building Programme in English Language — Laureate School

A two days workshop on Capacity Building in English Language and Literature for Class X was conducted by CBSE on 25th and 26th May 2018, in the premises of Laureate Public School, Bharari, Shimla, by the CBSE resource persons Ranjana Bhardwaj of Army Public School, Chandimandir and Kirti Tiwari of Chapslee School, Shimla. The workshop was attended by the teachers of well renowned CBSE schools of Shimla, Kasauli, Jhakri and Jeori.

The programme started with the lighting of lamp by School Principal Dr Meera Singh, and resource persons. It was followed by a melodious Vandana sung by the school teachers.

The main objective of the programme was to discuss the new syllabus and textbooks prescribed for Class IX and the guidelines set by CBSE for assessment, evaluation, content and weightage of marks. Some of the areas covered were reading for meaning, teaching, vocabulary and grammar in context, writing skills, and ASL for language learning with the help of role plays. Ranjana Bhardwaj also discussed a few topics of poetry and prose emphasizing on the probable questions.

It was an informative session and gave new insights into way of delivering new syllabus effectively and imaginatively.
