AHGS.FolkDanc.10.8 (3)In an Inter-School Folk Dance competition held at Auckland House Girls School to commemorate the Sesquicentennial Celebrations, spectators got an opportunity to experience the vibrant colours of folk dances from different states such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal and Gujarat among others. As it is said that dance is that delicacy of life, radiating every particle of our existence with happiness and exactly same was experienced by the spectators who were teleported to different places with some spectacular dance performances by the students.

In the competition seven schools participated and gave a neck to neck fight to bag the first position. However, since it was a competition so the first, second and third positions were won by DAV Lakkar Bazar, Auckland House Girls and Govt. Girls, Senior Secondary School, Portmore respectively. Consolation prize was won by Dayanand Public School, Shimla. Other schools who participated included Auckland House School for Boys and St. Thomas School.AHGS.FolkDanc.10.8 (23)

Ankita Kapila, Lecturer of Dance at RKMV, Shimla and Archana Mehra, a painter and dancer were present on the occasion as the chief guest as well as judges.

Both were pleased with the performances and appreciated the talent of the students. They said that it was indeed a treat to witness the young dancers exhibiting their dancing skills. The rhythmic, traditional and vibrant dances enthralled the audience and left them all spellbound.

The day ended on a happy note and everyone was pleased with the results. Students felt proud to be part of the competition as they all got an opportunity to exhibit their talent in front of other schools and even learn from other students as well.
