Webinar regarding Plastic Waste Amendment Rules, 2021 & 2022 “Single Use Plastic EPR Compliance – Plastic Waste Registration” was held under the Chairmanship of Apoorv Devgan, IAS, Member Secretary, Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board. In the webinar, Government Officers, General Public, Industries- Producers/ Importers/ Brand Owners (PIBOs) and Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs) under Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2021 & 2022 were invited. About 400 participants around the State attended the webinar including Industrial Association Baddi, Una, Nalagarh, Kala Amb, Dharamshala and Himachal Drug Manufacturing Association, Vyapaar Mandal, Shimla.

At first, Apoorv Devgan, IAS, Member Secretary, Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board gave his opening remarks and also apprised the participants about objectives of organising the webinar. The AUA (Ask Us Anything) Session was organised with the objective of clearing doubts of industries, officers, public and traders regarding various rules & regulations of plastic waste management & SUP ban to ensure harmonious implementation. Thereafter, Chandan Singh, Assistant Environmental Engineer, Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board made the participants aware of Banned SUP items notified by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change under Plastic Waste Management, Rules, 2021 and roles and responsibilities of State Government, Producers, Importers, Brand Owners and Plastic Waste Processors. 

Further, the roles and responsibilities of Producers, Importers, Brand Owners and Plastic Waste Processors under the notification of Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board on 23.02.2022 and amendment issued on 2.07.2022 were apprised to the participants.  Thereafter a demo regarding registration to be obtained by Producers, Importers, Brand Owners and Plastic Waste Processors under Plastic Waste Management Rules on the centralized portal of Central Pollution Control Board was given by the State Board. Also issues pertaining to plastic waste recycling raised by Industrial Association, Una was discussed during the webinar. The webinar was attended by representatives of ind. Associations, departments, vyapar mandals & the public. At the end questions of the participants were addressed and clarified by Member Secretary and expert officers of Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board.
