Schools Rock During Inter-School Band Competition — AHGS

AHGS.16.5 (4)It is often said music is beyond boundaries and the same spirit was seen in the students from nine different schools including DAV Lakkar Bazaar, DAV New Shimla, St. Thomas’, Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Auckland House Girls & Boys School, Monal Public School, St. Edwards and Chelsea, who came together to share the stage during the Inter School Band Competition held in Auckland House Girls School here today. Students from each band played to their best potential as they rocked the stage with a few outstanding performances.

CSC_0862The competition was divided into three categories — solo, instrumental and duet/group song in English. Instruments allowed for the competition were drums, guitar and synthesizer. Through their performances students gave voice to various human emotional songs such as Rolling in the Deep, We Will Rock You, Counting Stars, Pick Up Song, Queue to Doll, Photograph, Love Me Do, Hotel California and Doing That Thing You Do were performed.  

Judges for the competition comprised of Shammi Harrison and Indira Bhasin talented musicians and alumina of the school. Speaking on the occasion both guests expressed their gratitude towards the school for giving them an opportunity to visit the school again and get to hear such talented students.

Every school gave their best but however since it was a competition so better than best included:

The first, second and third position in the Solo Category were bagged by Auckland House School, D.A.V Lakkar Bazaar and Auckland House School for Boys respectively. The consolation prize was won by D.A.V. New Shimla.

In the Duet/Group Song category, the first, second and third positions were bagged by Auckland House School for Boys, D.A.V. New Shimla, and Loreto Convent Tara Hall respectively. The consolation prize was awarded to Auckland House Girls School.

In the instrumental category the first, second and third positions were secured by Auckland House School for Boys, Auckland House School for Girls, Loreto Convent Tara hall respectively, while the consolation prize was awarded to D.A.V. Lakkar Bazaar.

The overall first position in the competition was shared by Auckland House School for Boys and Auckland House School for Girls and the third position was bagged by D.A.V. Lakkar Bazaar respectively.
