AUCK.11.3.16bAdolescence is the conjugator of childhood and adulthood. Often females feel scared and confused when it comes to their physical changes and especially when they reach the age of puberty. To deal with such important issue Auckland House School Girls, took an initiative to organize a workshop on Menstrual Problems in Adolescent Girls for Forms 6th to 8th. During the session, Dr. Alok Sharma, MD, DHA, MICOG along with his associate Dr. Geetika guided the students about various changes that take place in a female’s body.

AUCK.11.3.16aA presentation regarding importance of personal hygiene and especially during periods was presented. Students were informed about how important it is to change their sanitary napkins at regular intervals and keep their private parts clean.

Student were warned about the danger of using talcum powder, deodorants or any other chemical based substance in private parts as it can cause infection and damage them. Stress was also laid to clean folds of private part at regular intervals.

AUCK.11.3.16Students were encouraged to become open about their cycle and celebrate their womanhood. The doctors also answered various questions raised by students regarding their periods and explained that each individual’s body react differently to these changes and hence there is no point in making fun of one having pimples or putting on weight.

Adolescence is a new birth, for the higher and more completely human traits are now born and hence both doctors persuaded student to visit doctors if their periods are irregular and have any other problem relating to it.
