Chennai, Aug 10 (UNI)
All Class 10 students, who were supposed to take up the board exams in March this year, have been declared as having passed by the Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) today.
Releasing the results in its website, the DGE said all the 9.39 lakh class ten students were declared ‘passed’ without appearing for the exams after Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami made an announcement to this effect recently as the exams could not be conducted in view of the COVID-19 induced lockdown.
The number of male and female candidates are 4,71,759 and 4,68,070 respectively, besides 6,235 differently abled candidates who were also declared passed. The SSLC exams were scheduled to commence on March 27, but were postponed due to the lockdown. It was later scheduled in July, but were cancelled following which the Chief Minister said all students would be declared to have passed.
The marks were given based on their quarterly and half yearly exams and attendance. While 80 per cent of the marks were based on quarterly and half-yearly exams, 20 per cent marks were given based on the attendance. The DGE said students who wanted to apply for re-totalling could do so through their schools from August 17 to 21.
