Aarti Gupta has become the first lady departmental Director of the Information and Public Relations and the 9th from the department. She is serving in the department from the last 33 years. Aarti Gupta joined as Assistant Public Relations Officer in 1991 and became Information Officer in the department after passing the commission exams in 1992. She was promoted as Deputy Director in 2009 and as Joint Director 2013.
Before being elevated as a Director, she was holding the charge of Additional Director since 2021. Aarti Gupta thanked the Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for having faith in her and expressed her gratitude to him. The officers and officials of the IPR department also welcomed the decision of the government for assigning the charge to a professional person and for appointing a person from the department which was also the need of the hour.
