Heartfulness Essay Event, an initiative by the Ram Chandra Mission, has been empowering youth and promoting wisdom preservation for over three decades. The event, now in its thirty-first year, aims to encourage young minds to tap into their inner wisdom and express their thoughts on relevant themes. This year’s event is set to be a milestone, with the introduction of new categories and opportunities for students.

Background: Ram Chandra Mission, a non-profit educational and spiritual organization, has been dedicated to promoting heart-based living through meditation for over 75 years. Recognized by the United Nations Department of Public Information as one of the 1600 associated NGOs, the organization has made substantial contributions to the world of education and spirituality.

Evolution of the Event: The All India Essay Writing Event, initially organized by Shri Ram Chandra Mission, became a flagship event over the years. In partnership with the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan, it reached out to over 25,000 institutions in India. In 2019, the event was renamed the “Heartfulness Essay Event” and made its global debut in 2020, collaborating with UNESCO MGIEP (Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development).

Youth Empowerment Programs: The Heartfulness Education Trust (HET) has designed a range of programs for young individuals, including “The Heartfulness Way” curriculum for junior school students, aiming to instill core human values and life skills. For senior school students, there’s a life skills program called “HELP.” Additionally, HET offers programs for university students under the “Heartful Campus” initiative. “INSPIRE” is a program designed for teachers.

Invitation to Youth: The event extends an invitation to youth to participate and explore their inner selves. It emphasizes the importance of balancing physical and intellectual development with inner growth, fostering harmony between mind and heart.

New Events: Exciting new additions include “SEI Insights” for Category 1 schools, evaluating socio-emotional intelligence, and “Youth Innovation Awards” for Category 2 students, encouraging innovative solutions to community problems.

Categories and Topics:

  • Category 1 [Age 14-18 years]: “The Earth does not belong to us; we belong to the Earth.” (Word Limit: 500)
  • Category 2 [Age 19-25 years]: “Technology helps us in preserving information. Generational connection helps us in preserving wisdom.” (Word Limit: 750)

Guidelines for Participation: Participants must adhere to specific guidelines, including submission through the official website, word limits, and language options. The essays must be the original work of the author, with proper acknowledgments for references or quotations.

Evaluation Criterion: Entries will be evaluated based on criteria such as theme interpretation, structure, language, originality, relevance to the theme, research, and conclusion.

Awards and Recognitions:

  • Winners and runners-up in each language category will receive trophies and certificates.
  • Certificates with rank for essays ranked third to tenth in each language category.
  • Merit certificates for entries shortlisted for the final round.
  • Certificates of participation for all eligible participants.
