Key Steps to Empower Small Farmers in Rohru

Aditya Negi, Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, chaired a meeting in his office toda. Regarding Rohru Block’s Seema Rantadi Horticulture and Agriculture Cluster. The cluster spans 666 hectares of land, and provisions for irrigation facilities should be made. Marginal farmers in Rantadi, Malvarai, Tindayana, Baratoo, Jada, Thakulidhar, and Kashthani can increase their income through horticulture. The cluster has 270 farmers, and the Horticulture Department has been instructed to specifically educate female farmers. (Key Steps to Empower Small Farmers)

Importance of irrigation facilities

Firstly, one of the key points of discussion was the importance of irrigation facilities for small and marginal farmers in the Rohru Block’s Seema Rantadi Horticulture and Agriculture Cluster. Although, Aditya Negi stressed the need to make provisions for irrigation facilities to help farmers increase their income through horticulture. The cluster spans 666 hectares of land and has 270 farmers.

Education of female farmers

Secondly, the need to educate female farmers in the cluster. Negi instructed the Horticulture Department to specifically educate female farmers so that they can become self-reliant. Moreover, this would help increase their income and improve their standard of living.

Use of latest technologies

Additionally, horticulture experts were directed to educate farmers on the latest technologies so that they can improve their farming practices. This would help them increase their yield and income, as well as adopt self-employment.

However, Kapil Dev Mehta, the horticulture development officer, conducted the meeting and provided information about the cluster. The meeting was attended by officials from various departments.
